Vimeo Video Downloader

Desktop / Browser

1. 1Go to Vimeo.com and open the video you want to download on its own page.
2. 2Copy the URL from your browser address bar — it should be formatted as vimeo.com/NUMBERS.
3. 3Paste the URL into the download box above and click Download.
4. 4The video downloads as an MP4 file directly to your browser's Downloads folder.

Mobile (iPhone & Android)

1. 1Open vimeo.com in your mobile browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android) and find the video.
2. 2Copy the video's URL from the address bar.
3. 3Open a new tab, go to vidforyou.net, and paste the URL into the download field.
4. 4Tap Download and wait for the video to process.
5. 5iPhone: the download appears in Safari's download manager (arrow icon in the toolbar). Tap it, then use Share to save to Files or Photos. Android: the file goes to your Downloads folder.

Good to Know

• →Vimeo video URLs are simply vimeo.com/NUMBER — if you see a longer URL with query parameters, you can trim everything after the final number and the page will still load correctly.
• →Some Vimeo creators set their videos to be playable on external sites but not downloadable. If VidForYou returns an error on a public video, this is likely the reason — the creator has locked the media file to Vimeo's own player.
• →Vimeo is popular with filmmakers and designers who use Creative Commons licenses. Check the video description — if it's CC-licensed, you may be able to use it freely for certain purposes even after downloading.
